GRAPHITE FURNACE ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY WITH MAlIlRIX MODIFICATION FOR DETERMINATION OF LEAD IN DRINKING WATER

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

An amoniumvanadate plus sodium molybdate mixed modifier Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometric method has been developed for determination of traces of lead in drinking water. The concentration of lead in the sample is obtained by direct comparison to linear working graph prepared from aqueous standards in the modifier medium, The results indicate the better performance of the proposed modifier over Pd-Mg. Recovery of lead from spiked samples was 99.4%. The withinrun and within-batch precisions, RSD, were less than 4%. The limit of detection based on three times the standard deviation of the blank was 0.07 µg I . The sensitivity and siihplicity of the method make it attractive for routine determination of lead in environmental samples.

Utilization of electrodeposition on a graphite probe modified with palladium in determination of lead by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry in water and environmental samples

In this work a rapid and selective procedure for separation and preconcentration of lead(Pb2+) before determination by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) wasdeveloped. The procedure is based on the electrodeposition on a graphite probe modified withpalladium. The lead was deposited from acetate buffer solution at pH 5.5. Various parameters, such as pH of solutions, deposition ...

Determination of lead in croatian wines by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.

A method has been developed for direct determination of lead in wine by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) with Zeeman-effect background correction. The thermal behaviour of Pb during pyrolysis and atomisation stages was investigated without matrix modifier and in the presence of Pd(NO(3))(2), Pd(NO(3))(2) + Mg(NO(3))(2) × 6H(2)O, and NH(4)H(2)PO(4) + Mg(NO(3))(2) × 6H(2)O ...

Determination of chromium, copper and lead in river water by graphite-furnace atomic absorption spectrometry after coprecipitation with terbium hydroxide.

Coprecipitation with terbium hydroxide quantitatively recovered trace amounts of chromium(III), copper(II) and lead(II) at pH 8.4 - 10.8, 8.0 - 11.5 and 8.7 - 11.5, respectively. The precipitate was dissolved in 0.85 mol dm(-3) nitric acid, and the analytes were determined by graphite-furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS). The presence of terbium (up to 7 g dm(-3)) did not interfere w...

Determination of lead, copper and manganese by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry after separation/concentration using a water-soluble polymer.

In this study, a water-soluble polymer, polyvinylpyrrolidinone (PVP) having chelating functionalities was used for the preconcentration and separation of traces of Pb, Cu, Ve and Mn prior to their determination by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. For this purpose, the sample and the PVP solutions were mixed and the metal bound polymer was precipitated by adding the mixture onto ...
